Why you save things and never open them

The save button feels like progress. Opening Saves later feels like homework.

Make later a vault you can ask. Download Restash.

Two different jobs

Capture is a hit: you preserved the thing. Retrieval is work: you have to remember it exists, choose an app, scroll, and hope the thumbnail still means something. Social apps optimize for capture. They do not optimize for Tuesday-you.

So the pile grows. You are not broken. The tools are one-way.

Titles you will not remember

Reels are not named like files. Screenshots are named IMG_4029. Bookmarks are “How to… (you closed the tab).” A second brain needs handles you can speak: city, recipe, workout, product. Restash files the save, then lets you ask without recalling the original caption.

Close the loop in 20 seconds

  1. When you save, share into Restash while the context is still in your head.
  2. Drop it in a workspace you already live in — travel, recipes, gym — not “misc.”
  3. Once a week, ask one useful question of the vault. Use one thing. That trains the habit.

Using one save beats organizing a hundred you will never reopen.

Privacy note

Your vault is yours. See the Privacy Policy for how Restash handles data — including that we do not sell your personal information or use your private vault to train public models.
